Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota is tied to a move away from the club at the end of the season, but it appears that the Premier League giants are set to hold a contract meeting with him.
Players have linked their transition to Saudi Arabia in recent months. A report from Football Insider claims that Liverpool will hold a contract talk with players towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will also be discussing a new contract between Ibrahima Conate and Luis Diaz. Both players are extremely important to the club this season and it’s no surprise that Liverpool wants to keep them at the club in the long run.
Jota has been extremely overwhelming this season and he is struggling with persistent injuries. The player is 28 years old and he’s unlikely to get any better. This could have been the right opportunity for Liverpool to cash him out and bring a younger alternative.
Liverpool must win cash to Diogo Jota
Liverpool already secures the future for Mohamed Sarah and Virgil van Dik. However, the decision to offer Jota a new contract is quite surprising. The players are clearly declining and have not been able to perform at a high level this season.
There is no doubt that Portugal’s International is a useful player, but Liverpool should be aiming for a higher if they want to win the league title and the Champions League next season.
Jota scored £140,000 a week, scoring just six goals for the league this season. Liverpool should reconsider its decision to offer him a new deal in the summer. He has no doubt been a useful servant of the club over the past few seasons, but this is a good time for Liverpool to move him and bring about an upgrade.
