Once the transfer window reaches its final and decisive day, the future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isaac is once again in the spotlight.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool remains interested in Sweden’s advancement, but he has stepped carefully into their approach and is cautious about negotiating unrealistic financial spheres.
Liverpool made headlines earlier this month with an ISAK £110 million offer, which was made up of Jacobs’ notes as a fully fixed fee. It would have been a record-setting total of UK transfers, but Newcastle rejected it almost immediately.
Liverpool has taken a “no new bid” stance on Alexander Isaac
From a Liverpool perspective, the offer was far from a lowball attempt. Instead, they viewed it as a statement of serious intent, especially given the structure of the transaction without add-ons.
Since its rejection, Liverpool has maintained a “no new bid” stance, unless there is a clear path to trading.
At this stage in the window, Jacobs explains that “encouragement” means more than simply being invited to the table. There needs to be a real indication that Newcastle is willing to engage in terms of potentially real agreement.
Liverpool is ready to return with a £120 million regional offer. However, the £150 million fee talk has never been taken seriously at Anfield. Jacobs emphasizes that Liverpool is looking at numbers that dominate the market over its long-term strategy in recruiting players and is dangerous.
Newcastle is exploring options in the market
On Newcastle’s side, the situation remains sensitive. Magpies are already exploring striker options, with Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen looking into potential alternatives to Callum Wilson.
Several other names have also been seen, highlighting the uncertainty about Isak’s future.
For much of the summer, Newcastle felt that maintaining ISAK without securing a new contract would be an unsustainable position. Nevertheless, the club remains open to providing him with fresh terms if he chooses to reintegrate and commit into the project.
Report: Liverpool’s departure is still possible for “reliable” stars with ongoing debate
