According to the Independent, Premier League champion Liverpool is reportedly preparing to make an unexpected, slow push to steal Crystal Palace’s Ebekieze, which has a strong link to Arsenal.
The 27-year-old England International is being chased by Mikel Arteta this summer to add depth and quality to his offense and creative options, but Liverpool has been increasing interest in signing the Palace Star.
Liverpool has had prolific windows so far, securing several impressive signatures, including Jeremy Fripon, Florian Wiltz and Milos Kerkez.
Liverpool was able to hijack Arsenal’s move for Everach Eze
However, manager Arne Slot appears to want to double the offensive division ahead of next season, with Eze emerging as the best target.
England International was impressed with his individual performances, helping Palace win the FA Cup last season and realised his talent at some of the biggest clubs in England.
Arsenal reportedly went the farthest in the race to sign Eze, but the report says no club has yet to take a concrete approach to signing the palace star.
It’s obvious to see why the Reds raced to sign Eze this summer. Questions about Luis Diaz’s future probably forced them to consider Eze’s moves that are unable to play behind the striker in a central role, not just in a wide offensive position.
The Reds need more creativity in their teams
Eze is expected to compete with Cody Gakpo and Diaz if he stays at the club this summer.
Arsenal remains a favorite unless Liverpool formalise the offer soon. The gunners have shown most interest to date, and Eze is personally eager to travel to Emirates Stadium.
Liverpool’s interests change players’ minds, but as the summer transfer window progresses, the two Premier League title contenders from last season may once again be able to head towards one of the league’s most creative players.
Eze has a £68 million release clause in the palace, and anyone who wants to sign him this summer must pay that amount.
