Liz Carmouche hopes to win the PFL flyweight tournament final on Friday and book a showdown against Dakota Diccheva, but hopes that everything will come, reconciliating with the fact that she remains in the sport for a period of time.
Now, undoubtedly, Carmouche is not planning to retire anytime soon, but the 41-year-old veteran spent most of 2025 away from his family and was forced to think about her priorities moving forward. She still performs at such a high level, so Carmouche knows there is no reason to slow down when it comes to physical abilities, but the victory and championship belt cannot trade time at home for missing.
“I was in good health and I would not have come as sharp as ever. “I will show up and become the best wife and best mother I can. That means there will be.
“So, to absolutely move on next year, there are some changes that we need to talk and discuss with PFL about what PFL looks like and how they are super fights and how to put them together to make sure I exist.
Currently, Carmouche has to travel for training camp, and due to the tight schedule of the PFL tournament, she is virtually away from home for most of 2025.
That’s the main reason why she has to reevaluate her future plans after she passes through Jena Bishop and then sets up a battle with Diccheva.
“To be honest, I think it’s more than my body isn’t there,” explained Calmouche. “Of course I want to be healthy so that I can still play with my son. When he wants to wrestling, he wants to get into it, or when he wants to go to football, when I’m not wrestling with him, I’m practicing soccer with him and I’m in. He’s as a human and I know when he’ll turn into a good person, that’s because I was there too.
“So, it’s the part that ultimately separates me from the fight, because I have to miss it. I need to be present in their lives and participate as much as possible.”
First of all, Carmouche wants to complete his mission to win the title of the PFL tournament. This is an achievement that he didn’t get in 2024 after the poor weight and the defeat of Taila Santos ended his year prematurely.
Now, Carmouche has the familiar face after sharing training time with Bishop in the past.
“Yena and I crossed the road,” explained Kalmouche. “We both trained with Justin Flores. She’s one of those who has been pretty consistent with him for years. We trained with Justin Flores.
“So we definitely crossed the road at various points in our careers. Once we got to the PFL, we really didn’t cross each other.”
If she overcomes the bishop and wins a $500,000 award and a PFL tournament title, Kalmoucce believes it’s inevitable that she will face Diccheva in the end.
Now widely regarded as one of the faces of the PFL, Ditcheva has become a promotional star following a ferocious run in the 2024 tournament.
Carmouche has a lot of respect for Ditcheva, but that’s the final hurdle she wants to fight it for more, and Beating Bishop clears before it can make it happen.
“There are times when there’s been mentions of the possibility of a White House MMA event outdoors and the super fight with Dakota. I think this is the event for next year,” Carmouche said. “That’s what I’m aiming for and what people want.
“For the media to drive it and it’s in the White House, we have to give everyone what they want and have that fight.”
