The 23-year-old allowed three runs with five hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. Sasaki threw four strikeouts on a High 93 pitch outing against the Pirates.
Sasaki discussed his post-match performance and revealed that he would like to correct it before the next start.
“It feels like my delivery is in pretty sync, and even on the pitch I really don’t necessarily command, I feel pretty good,” Sasaki told Bill Plunkett on the Orange County Register through Ireton. “As long as I increase my speed a little, I think I can sell the way I want.”
There were some highlights from the 8-4 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday night. For one thing, the LA lineup looked to be coming back to life with home runs from Tescar Hernandez and Kike Hernandez.
Shohei Ohtani broke out from the opening month slump with three extra-bass hits and two runs scored. The superstar used to go 16-1.
Sasaki appears to be in the midst of finding his rhythm after a rocky start to his major league career.
Prior to Saturday’s matchup, the right-hander used a new warm-up song called “Bailalo Rocky.” The ‘ bench responded with animation energy throughout the warm-up while Sasaki threw the heater.
The rookie’s sixth MLB outing was another step in the right direction, and perhaps a bit of a Latin talent helped Sasa enter the zone.
