Lonzo Ball is enjoying his time playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers as he is one of the most important guards on the roster. Although he is happy playing for the Cavaliers, he remains open to playing for the Los Angeles Lakers again in the future.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the biggest favorites to win the Eastern Conference in the 2025-26 season. One of the biggest reasons is that they have depth at the guard position, with Lonzo Ball an option.

Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are a great backcourt duo, but they’re even better with a legitimate backup behind them. Ball has been sidelined by injuries over the past few years, but so far he has lived up to the Cavaliers’ expectations.

Ball is happy with where he is now, given the new opportunity after an injury-plagued stint with the Chicago Bulls. He is currently with the Cavaliers, playing a key role on a team that could reach the NBA Finals in June 2026. Despite this, Ball still has roots in Los Angeles and wouldn’t mind moving back there.

Now that Ball is playing for the Cavaliers, it’s a new journey for him. The 6-foot-6 guard has had a rough few years since he was sidelined for two seasons with a lower-body injury.

He returned to full health for the 2024-25 season, but it took some time for him to get back to full speed. Now with the Cavaliers, he’s in the right position to not only contribute as a starter, but also not overdo it.

Ball could be one of the most impactful players on the Cavaliers roster. Many would say the core four of Garland, Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen are the key players. But names like Ball and Max Strus should never be counted out as potential contributors to reaching and winning the NBA Finals.

“I’m feeling good. Obviously, last night was our first game and I didn’t get the job done, but I was moving around and feeling pretty good. I feel a lot better than last year and I think it’s pretty normal to have major injuries. It takes a year to really get used to the way you move,” Ball said about the 2025-26 season on the Stephen A. Smith Show.

“I’m confident. Of course it’s going to be a long season. I’m hopeful that I’ll come out at the end…It’s a good fit. I thought they needed a player like me.”

“They wanted me, so I’ll always go where I’m needed. I’m not saying Chicago wasn’t, but it felt like a good opportunity. I’ll say this, I don’t mind going back to LA. I don’t miss it. I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”

Throughout the summer of 2025, people have been touting the Cavaliers to be ready for a tough test of competition. This will be a challenge for the team as they were dominant in the East region last season. With the Cavaliers on their toes as championship favorites along with the New York Knicks, they will want to maintain consistency and health.

Ball isn’t the star player they rely on every night, but he will do his best to contribute. Defense and playmaking are his biggest traits, so he will play a big role in that part of the game.

Cavs say Lonzo Ball is a genius playmaker who passes the ball to people who don’t realize he’s open.

Team leader Kenny Atkinson loves the view from the 6-foot-6 guard. Ball will continue to strive to be one of the most important players in the backcourt next to Garland and Mitchell. In fact, they could even play together due to Ball’s advantages as a big guard who can guard multiple positions.

Although there is a part of him that wants to return to Los Angeles, Ball’s heart is in Cleveland and he is focused on how he can help his team win a championship.
