Liverpool was interested in Naples defender Sam Bekema and was able to aim for him to move in the future.
The 26-year-old recently joined Napoli for a fee of 31 million euros, and the Italian champion doesn’t want to lose him right after signing the player. However, according to a report from TeamTalk, Liverpool manager Arne Slot is a long-term admirer of Beukema, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool has decided to make a move for him in the near future.
He previously named Liverpool manager “one of the best” in the world. Slot tried to sign Beukema in Feyenord.
Liverpool can use Sam Bekema
You can use another quality central defender, especially after not signing Mark Gehhi during the summer transfer period. Crystal Palace’s defenders were important targets for them, but his movement collapsed at the last moment after Crystal Palace failed to secure a replacement.
Liverpool will need to replace Ibrahi Makonate, who may be on their way out of the club at the end of the season. French International became a free agent in the summer, and he has yet to sign an extension with the Premier League champions.
Beukema is a useful addition
Beukema has proven himself in Italy and has the quality to do well in the Premier League. The opportunity to join one of the world’s biggest clubs could be exciting for him. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool will submit a lucrative proposal to close the transaction. They have the resources to submit premium offers to defenders. It remains to be seen whether Napoli is ready to consider selling at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is at the peak of his strength, and this may be the right time for him to take on a new challenge and move into the Premier League. He can fight for Liverpool and large trophies and play alongside top players.
Meanwhile, Napoli is also a first-team team, recently winning the Italian League title. The defenders have no reason to force an exit from the club. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
