According to USA Today’s MLB insider Bob Nightengale, the are considering going after Miami Marlins’ start pitcher Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara returned to the mound after Tommy John’s surgery, where he slowly looked like the dominant ace.
“Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara has just returned to the time to trade with his fastball (97.6 mph) and command after undergoing surgery by Tommy John. The hiding team.”
If Los Angeles could land Alcantara, it could significantly improve the starting rotation. Los Angeles entered the year by spinning all sorts of options, but injuries completely derailed that fact.

Alcantara can be added to an already impressive list of pitchers on the ‘ roster. Adding him to rotations like Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Saga Roki and Clayton Kershaw could potentially become electric for the team.
But the biggest issue for Los Angeles in the stretch season is who will be available to those who will be playing off time. Even if the won the World Series last year, Los Angeles was essentially reduced to three starters by playoff time.
