Newcastle is expected to be extremely busy this summer and was able to quickly complete the second signing of the transfer window.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that Antonio Cordero will join Newcastle at the expiration of his Malaga contract. The teenagers will be loaned out next season to continue developing, but the club’s next arrival will remain the first team in the 2025-26 campaign.
What’s expected is that Newcastle’s second summer signature will become the goalkeeper for the new third choice. Champions League rules require players trained in four clubs to become teams of the competitive team, and Sean Longstaff hopes to leave this summer, so signing is desperate to fill that void.
Newcastle was hoping to sign Fraser Forster from Tottenham
Also, according to Geordie Boot Boys (via NUFC Feed), Transfer Expert Graeme Bailey revealed that Fraser Forster is expected to be the player arriving at this point.
“From what I was told, it looks like Fraser Forster is in it. They had a list of three goalkeepers they were watching: Forster, Tim Kull and Jacques Alnwick. I think Forster is my favorite to arrive.”
Forster spent the past three years at Tottenham, but he leaves when his contract expires at the end of the month. And Newcastle plans to pick him up despite the fact that he already has a wealth of goalkeepers in their books, including Nick Pope, Martin Devravka, Odishes Vlakodimos, and Mark Gillespie.
Perhaps at least two of these players will leave this summer and Forster will arrive. However, he is unlikely to be the only goalkeeper to join, and Newcastle is also planning a move for James Trafford.
