NBA analysts compared Luka Donsic’s stint with the Dallas Mavericks and La Lakers.
Since trading with La Lakers, Luka Doncic has been excellent, averaging 28.2 ppg, 8.1 RPG and 7.5 APG.
The team finished the regular season as the third seed in the West, securing a 50-win season for the first time in five years.
Doncic has made some great performances, including a 45-point show with former team Dallas Mavericks.
He completely changed the Lakers’ fate and with him on the court, the Lakers look like a team capable of playing deep playoff runs.
Before moving to the Lakers, Donsic was on stellar missions with the Mavericks.
He helped him reach the NBA Finals for the first time since last season, but a few months later, general manager Nico Harrison made a deal.
Analyst Rick Butcher has revealed that Don Sic’s performance with the Lakers is already better than his stint with the Mavericks this season.
Doncic has only played 28 games for the Lakers this season, but has made 22 appearances for the MAVS.
His average has increased by just 0.1 ppg with the Lakers, but his three-point shooting, usage and offensive winning stock have all increased since his time at MAVS.
Speaking of improvements, Luka has already shown with the Lakers, Butcher said:
Don Sic was the Mavericks main player, but with the Lakers he plays with one of the best players in the form of LeBron James.
However, the four-time NBA champions were extremely vocal about how good and important Donsic is for the team.
The Slovenians were handed over responsibility for crimes, and he has not only improved, but they have all been improved since the arrival of Austin Reeves, Dorian Finney Smith, Gabe Vincent and Jackson Hayes.
“In Dallas, everything was around him, he was his son, right? But he’s played a bigger role for the Los Angeles Lakers than he did for the Dallas Mavericks, so he’s so important and why is it the most important piece he has,” Pierce added.
Donsic’s 45-point performance against his former team was special.
Just before the start of the game, Doncic was seen getting emotional after Mavs played a tribute video for him.
He cheered loudly from the crowd, and as Harrison watched the game, Don Sic confirmed that the fans had given the show they came to see.
When asked where he ranks performances against his previous aspects, Donsic replied: “I say Top One because my fans and teammates were there so special. It was something I’ve never seen in my life and it was special about the love between me and my fans.”
Doncic’s 45-point effort was one of his most efficient scoring performances as he shot 57.1% from the field and scored 70% from the 3-point range.
