Luka Donsic’s trade from the Dallas Mavericks to the La Lakers was one of the biggest midseason moves in NBA history.
Nico Harrison, the general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, was under many sticks to give up on the star of the Luka Donsic franchise.
They signed Anthony Davis in return, but lost Donsic, who had just led them to their first NBA Finals a few months ago, since 2011.
In his return game to Dallas, the Slovenian was emotional after watching his tribute video, but Donsic erupted at 45 points and held the show.
At his introduction press conference, Donsic made clear his intention to win the championship between Purple and Gold.
However, his initial response to trade was not the same, but it is only natural that he spent seven years in Dallas before being traded without much notice.
When Shams Charania was first told to him, she revealed that he couldn’t believe the news, and insiders were scared to enter a tweet.
A franchise star, Donsic did enough to solidify his place as a key piece in Dallas, but Harrison felt he needed to move on from him.
The Slovenian said he was unaware of the trade and was prepared to sleep when he received the call.
Speaking about the trade, Donsic said: “I was actually in bed and the TV wasn’t working, so I watched a movie on my iPad and the first three things I said were, “Is it April 1st this year?”
When asked how he felt when he was spoken about the first deal, the guard replied, “My sadness was almost shocked, I was crazy with shock. My heart honestly felt like it was broken.”
Since trading Doncic with the LA Lakers, Harrison has doubled his decision despite criticism from the NBA community.
The deal with Davis certainly helps MAVS defensively. Although he was unable to show off his talent this year, GM is confident in his team’s abilities.
The franchise fired a shot of his defensive frailty to justify Don Sic’s lifestyle and trade.
Speaking of the criticism from Harrison, Donsic said: “It’s sad that he’s talking about now. I don’t say anything about him, and I just want to move on.
The five-time All-Star also revealed that he had not spoken with Harrison since the deal and had all the intentions to stay in Dallas throughout his career.
