Luka Doncic went on to take the exceptional form during the Slovenian Eurobasket prep game.
The Superstar Guard scored 28 points with 10 assists in the team’s narrow 93-91 victory over the UK.
Luka Doncic exploded with 21 points. This includes incredible 20 points in the 10-minute opening on the court.
The performance eased concerns after Donsic left Slovenia’s previous match in the third quarter with a knee injury.
He finished 7/17 from the field and 14-12 from the free throw line against England.
Teammate Ed Murick praised Donsic’s leadership and work ethic, revealing how the superstar motivates the entire team.
The victory over the UK marked Slovenia’s first victory in the recent Eurobasket prep game.
“Do you know what can give us confidence? The fact that we played the game in Latvia at 9pm, we woke up at 5am to come to work out the morning. We were all tired of our trip and barely moved to workout.
“He is our role model. I asked myself how it is possible, I asked him: “Hey, what do you do with it? You’re always with the ball, you’re always being attacked, can you come to workout now and be 100% committed?”
Donsic’s simple response highlighted his passion for basketball. “I like to play,” he told Mrick. “We’re all watching this, so it encourages us to do well in training, which is why we’re so confident.”
The next test for Slovenia will take place on August 21 against Nikola Jokic’s Serbian team before the Eurobasket began on August 27th.
Despite having Donsic, Slovenia enters as the underdog of a challenging group, including France.
This Eurobasket tournament will be a test for Don Sic before competing with the Los Angeles Lakers in the next NBA season.
