Macy Barber now finishes Erin Blanchfield.
After spending the last year on the sidelines due to a series of health-related issues, “The Future” returns to the Octagon this Saturday night for her first UFC main event. Emanating from the top of Las Vegas, Barber squares Blanchefield, who is away from the biggest win of his career so far.
Riding on a six-game winning streak, Barber believes she is on the forefront of winning her first UFC title opportunity, and she believes that a decisive victory over “cold blood” will push her into pole position
“I believe that the dominant performance, the dominant finish, and the next line of belts doing what I need to do,” Barber told reporters on Wednesday’s Media Day. “I think this is a great opportunity to showcase your skills, get a finish, get a dominant victory, keep on winning streaks and put it at 7 and solidify your shots in the belt.”
Macy Barber vows to finish Erin Brunchfield
Barber, who won his promotional debut in 2018, has put together an impressive string of victories, beating Miranda Maverick, Amandari Bass and Catlinsel Minara and others.
And while a victory over Blanchefield definitely puts her in the title conversation, Barber knows that in a closely-competed decision, skates won’t be ahead of anyone like Natalia Silva, who already holds strong as a top-ranked candidate for the Flyweight Division, following her impressive performance against former champion Alexa Gragus at UFC 315.
“My goal in all performances is that people are like, ‘Damn, she really goes out there, she goes out there to finish, she goes out there to hurt these girls,” Barber said. “I think that’s what puts me in danger. I just don’t want to go out there and fight these girls and win. I don’t want to win a decision. I want to go out there and hurt these girls and make sure they never want to fight again when they end up in a fight with me.
“I think Erin is a one-dimensional fighter, and I think I know that quite a bit. She has her efforts and has wrestling abilities, but aside from that, I don’t think she’s a great striker. She’s not a dangerous fighter. She’s not a dangerous fighter. I care if the fight is standing or not.
