Macy Barber is working on a shocking final two-second withdrawal from the UFC Vegas 107 headliner.
After more than a year on the shelf addressing medical issues, Barber was expected to take a walk in Las Vegas on Saturday night for her first five rounds of main event. However, the tragedy was struck just before she was scheduled to step into the octagon.
After being told there was a short delay in moving forward with the main event, the UFC defeated the news that Play-by-Playman Brendan Fitzgerald had been off the night’s final fight between Barber and fourth-place flyweight competitor Erin Blanchefield. During the announcement, it was revealed that the barber had not been able to fight medically after reportedly suffering from a seizure behind the scenes.
For UFC fans and Erin Branchfield, it was definitely an annoying situation. But more than anything, it was another heartbreaking setback for Barber, once touted as the “future” of the flyweight division.
“It’s not something I was planning for the Sunday Post,” Barber wrote, breaking her silence on Instagram. “Thank you all for your prayers and support. @ufc @mickmaynard2 @danawhite @seanshelby & @blanchfield_mma ** ps My life is not messy. This is just a bad hand.
Barber’s comments about her “disruptive” life could probably be a direct response to Branchfield, which Barber called “a total mess in every aspect of her entire life.”
UFC women come to defend Barber
Barber’s social media was flooded with wealthy stuff from some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts for women, including Laura Sanko, who was calling at UFC Vegas 107.
“Your health is the only thing that really matters,” Sanko wrote in the comment. “I will send you lots of prayers.”
“When we are healthy, we want millions. When we are not healthy, we want only one thing,” added former UFC strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelja. “I wish you a speedy and full recovery, Macy. Please heal us all!”
“People, take care of you,” said Megan Olivi, a Roving UFC reporter. “I’ll send you lots of prayers.”
“I wish you a good recovery!” wrote Tabitha Rich. “You train hard for this fight I can’t wait for you to come back.”
“It’s soothing,” wrote Michelle Waterson. “Send my love.”
It’s everyone’s guess what’s coming next for Barber, but for now, what she should focus on is her health.
