NBA legendary Magic Johnson praised the Knicks for their Game 1 victory against the Celtics, giving credits to two players in particular.
The New York Knicks made a massive second half comeback with the Boston Celtics, taking an early lead in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
NBA fans loved the 20-point comeback, led primarily by Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby, both of which scored 29 points in the evening.
The Celtics set a horrifying NBA playoff record with the loss of a 45 three-pointer. But the Knicks deserved to have locked in and got the job done.
The praise for this victory is sent correctly to the aforementioned Knicks star. However, the two important differences manufacturers also received flowers from NBA legends.
As a Los Angeles Lakers legend, it’s safe to assume that Magic Johnson enjoyed seeing that Celtics lose. He certainly appreciates what the Knicks did.
Magic broke the game in a conventional, simple way with X. He highlighted the contributions of two nameless heroes, Mikal Bridges and Miles McBride.
“For the NY Knicks, led by OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson, the overtime comeback victory both finished with 29 points,” Johnson wrote.
“The two guys who deserved many achievements in the victory were Mikal Bridge and Miles McBride.
“Michal’s defense was great, he hit a key three-pointer to make the Knicks work overtime, while McBride hit three three-pointers and finished with 11 points.
Despite a victory at Game 1 Road in New York, the series is only beginning. The Celtics are the NBA champions for reasons and probably won’t shoot 25% off the three-point line.
Both teams have elite players. Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown can take over any game, while Branson and Cat can do the same.
But Bridge is the guy the Knicks gave up on five first round picks. And unlocking his attacks can be key.
Mikal only had eight points in the night, but he hit a three-pointer on the clutch in overtime. He was also a monster defensively. Advancing that momentum can be huge.
The former Suns man averaged 17.6 points per game this season. If he can get those numbers in this series, it could prove to be something that pushes Nick up.
