Magic Johnson had a lot of praise for players not normally featured by the New York Knicks who stepped up for them against the Pistons.
The New York Knicks fled tonight with a big victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks appeared rattling in the yard early on.
But when things come down to the wire, the Knicks will rely on their experience to win. In the end, the Pistons discovered that the lights were a little too bright.
The Knicks hope this 1-0 lead in the series surrounding the Pistons marks the beginning of the end of their first round encounter.
But there’s one star that stepped up when the chip went down, for all the praise that superstars and starters get.

After the match, Magic Johnson, who won the X, praised New York Knicks guard Cameron Payne.
He pointed out that Payne, whom he called the reserve guard, delivered 11 key points to help the Knicks get a very important victory.
“Reserved guard Cameron Payne was a big reason for the Knicks’ win. His 11 points sealed the victory!”
Obviously, Johnson, an elite point guard in his time, loved what he saw from Payne, the Knicks backup guard.
The Knicks hope that Cameron Payne will continue to perform at this level for the rest of the playoffs. His Game 1 outing was absolutely spectacular.

The New York Knicks had a miserable season. It’s hard to believe when they win over 50 games this season.
However, compared to the expectations around them early in the season, they are very short as a team.
The Knicks have yet to win with the Lightning, the Cavaliers or the Celtics. For potential candidates, this is unacceptable.
Now, Tom Thibodeau has to use the playoffs to help the Knicks regain their confidence. Otherwise, they’re staring at the exit for the third consecutive second round this year.
