Manchester City has now raided and submitted the opening offer for Manchester United’s targets amid widespread interest from rival Premier League clubs.
Man City wants to do it with their bitter rivals
Manchester’s power shift has definitely been around since Ira Alex Ferguson retired, with City breaking the record by winning three Premier League titles on spins, with the gap between the two clubs on display earlier this month.
Pep Guardiola’s team ran through the 3-0 winner against Man United at Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland bagging the braces after Phil Foden opened up the score.
Not only has City often got the goodness of its rivals on the pitch these days, but it has also become a more attractive destination for the new signature, as Genluigi Donnaruma has chosen to move to Etihad despite interest from Reuben Amorim’s side.
It was also revealed earlier this week that the Bruce had moved to pole position in the race for another keyman United target, Aintrak Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown.
This is according to an Edinburgh News report that Man City is now making an offer to Hearts midfielder Kiel McMeekin, who has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs.
United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool are interested in the 15-year-old signing, currently considering options, and are travelling for talks with City and two other unnamed Premier League sides.
Hart wants to protect the highly rated youth and has offered his appealing contract offer, but it is still unclear whether he is willing to commit to his future on the Scottish premiership side.
“Creative” McMeekin is for the future
Clearly, the Scottish youth is still in the early stages of his career, but he is clearly highly regarded at the club and international level, and has already made his debut on the Scottish U17 side.
Journalist Joel Sked also highly praises the teenager, describing him as a “creative” player and “one of the most promising talents at Heart Academy.”
At just 15 years old, McMeekin is for the future, but Man City should be well placed to win the race for his signature, given that they are clearly on a level beyond their major rivals, as proven by their 3-0 victory earlier this month.
Although Hart Ace may be off the first team level, Guardiola is also keen to bring in a central midfielder who can make an immediate impact, as he has identified Bayern Munich’s Alexander Pablovich as a Rodri alternative.
