As they are about to welcome the next addition after James Trafford, Manchester City is reportedly currently paying attention to the cut price movement to sign Pep Guardiola’s beloved midfield star.
Man City closes in Trafford
For much of the summer, it seemed Trafford was losing to Newcastle United. The Magpie missed the other targets, but it seemed likely that they would secure a goalkeeper’s signature. And Manchester City called on people at St James Park to deal with more frustration. The citizens are now Paul’s positions and reportedly agreed to a deal worth £27 million to welcome Trafford to Etihad.
Re-signing the club for the first time since trading Manchester for Burnley in 2023, Trafford hopes to get the No. 1 shirt only once under Guardiola.
Considering that Adason’s city’s future is far from recent guarantees in links with Galatasaray and others, Trafford’s ambitions are certainly realistic. The 22-year-old is one of the most talented young shot stoppers in the Premier League and could thrive if he passes the main responsibility between Guardiola’s sticks.
League statistics 24/25 (via FBREF) | Trafford | Ederson |
---|---|---|
start | 45 | 26 |
Save percentage | 84.5% | 69.2% |
Passing completion rate | 73.3% | 87.9% |
Save P90 | 1.89 | 2.05 |
England International still has a way of matching Edason’s abilities with the ball, as most goalkeepers do, but looking at the save percentages last season, they’ll probably provide City with a more reliable shot stopper.
Meanwhile, with Trafford in his middle, Man City reportedly shifted focus to another midfield reinforcement where Guardiola is currently a big fan.
Man City looks at the dive of half-price Paketa
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Man City is currently focusing on a half-price £40 million move to sign Lucas Paketa, despite reports that Brazilians are waived from all betting fees.
“West Ham is pleased, but he’s not surprised that Lucas Paketa has been cleared. The source confirmed to me that he was informed of the decision on Friday evening, similar to practices prior to the official confirmation.
“Paketa himself worked hard before the season, but now he is focused on being part of Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup team, so we’ll visit again the question of where he plays.
“Manchester City remains a huge admirer of players and is said to not refuse to return, but the £80 million fee they previously agreed to is likely to be more than half if they come back.”
A player reportedly loved by Guardiola and former West Ham United boss David Moyes, called “incredible,” Paqueta received the opportunity to get the biggest moves of his career courtesy of Man City and finally secure its final move.
