Reports say Manchester City signed a former Manchester United player this summer, with Pep Guardiola trying to bolster his defense.
Man City targeting the new left back
The rebuild of Man City begins with the transfer window in January, bringing in by Omar Marmash, Abdukodil Kusanov and Nico Gonzalez and Kevin de Bruin is set to leave this summer, with more reinforcements going to be needed.
Given that Josco Gvaldior is one of the only options for managers, Guardiola is also keen to strengthen his options at left back, and the city is said to be constantly in contact with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, who may be available for just £30 million this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur’s fate Udogie is also interested in the Sky Blues, pushing new sports director Hugo Viana to sign the Italians they’ve been tracking since 2021, but it’s unclear if the Spurs will bolster their direct rivalry.

Sky Blues can be set to move for attackers…
According to reports from Spain, Man City has identified six targets at left back, including Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras, who enjoyed an outstanding season in Portugal.
Given his impressive form, Carreras is one of the city coaching staff’s favorite targets at left-back, indicating Guardiola is a huge fan, but given the importance of the 22-year-old to the Portuguese side, it may be necessary to have a significant bid to praise him from Benfica.
Earlier this season, it was revealed in a link to Liverpool that the left-back has a £42 million release clause on the Benfica deal, but it is unclear whether Sky Blues will need to fork the full amount to make the deal.
Carreras is inspiring in the Champions League
There are clear indications that the fullback can make a step up to the city’s tall club, which has earned top performances in the Champions League this season, and reporter Alvaro de Grado describes him as one of the “revelation” of the competition.
The Spaniard has made 10 appearances in European elite competitions and provided two assists before the exit on his side at the hands of Barcelona, but he has been defensively impressed for the past year and has been highly ranked in some key metrics.

Not only that, the former Manchester United man is essential to Riga Portugal’s Benfica, scoring an impressive goal earlier this season in a 4-1 victory over FC Porto.
It’s clear that Guardiola will need to bring in a new left back this summer, with managers lacking options in that area of the pitch, and Carrera could be a great long-term addition to the team.
