Manchester City are said to be preparing to sign Real Madrid attacker Vinicius Junior, with rivals Manchester United also among the clubs vying for the Spanish giants’ signature.
The Brazilian is currently one of the best wingers in world football and became a superstar at the Santiago Bernabéu, with manager Carlo Ancelotti praising him during their time together.
“Right now, I think he’s the most decisive player in the world. All he does is dribble away from defenders, make assists, score goals, and he does that for 90 minutes. He never stops.”
However, the current situation at Madrid is not necessarily the happiest and journalist Guillem Balague explains why there is friction between him and Xabi Alonso.
“The manager insists that Vinicius will not play every game and needs more rest, and Rodrigo will challenge Vinicius for a position on the left side of the attack. Xabi Alonso’s stance is rooted in authority and planning. Vini Junior, who is used to being coddled, finds it difficult to adapt.”
Manchester City preparing to make offer for Vinicius
Currently, reports from Spain suggest that Manchester City are preparing to sign Vinicius, with Premier League rivals United and Chelsea also interested in signing Vinicius.
There appears to be “no apparent intention to renew” his current contract, with Josep Guardiola’s side waiting to accomplish a masterful task. The player is reportedly “not being appreciated as much as he had hoped” at the Bernabéu, leading to “heightened tensions”.
It goes without saying that the idea of Vinicius wearing a City shirt is an incredible possibility, given his status as one of the best footballers on the planet.
The 25-year-old has incredible natural talent and skill, but most importantly he backs this up with a strong end product, scoring 64 goals and providing 44 assists in 217 appearances for Madrid.
Vinicius has scored eight goals for Brazil, and with former England international Owen Hargreaves praising him last year, he will be one of the players to watch at next summer’s World Cup.
“His finishing is crazy. His decision-making in front of goal is great. In the second half he looked very angry. I don’t know what Carlo (Ancelotti) said to him, but if he plays like that, he’s definitely unstoppable. We saw that footage there. There were four or five bodies around him and they can’t even deal with him.”
If City could pair Vinicius with Haaland in attack, it would be an incredible sight and he has the ability to become a future Etihad great if that move materializes.
