Manchester United are reportedly interested in Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher as one of a number of targets for the position.
Manuel Ugarte’s form so far at Old Trafford has proven to be very disappointing, while Casemiro is not getting any younger, so the Red Devils could do with reinforcements in the center of the park.
According to talkSPORT, Man United are exploring a number of different options, including former Chelsea player Gallagher.
It is not yet clear who United will prioritize, but the paper says they have ambitious targets such as Carlos Baleva and Adam Wharton.
According to talkSPORT, although United prefer a loan deal, Gallagher could appeal for just £35m, which could be cheaper.
Should Manchester United bring Conor Gallagher back to the Premier League?
Even if Gallagher isn’t the most glamorous name in world football, he has shown that quality at various points in his career.
The England international was the player of the season during a year on loan at Crystal Palace, but it was a bit of a shame that he fell out of favor at Chelsea before moving on.
Gallagher has since enjoyed a strong start at Atletico but has fallen down the table again, so it’s no wonder the Spanish club are keen to sell him.
Whether on loan or permanently, Gallagher certainly has what it takes to be a smart signing for United.
MUFC are throwing away big bucks on players who have failed, so they might want to be more careful before signing big-ticket deals like Baleva and Wharton.
Gallagher is low risk and looks like the kind of experienced and reliable player that Ruben Amorim needs more of in his squad.
