Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Lou Van Nistelroy may be preparing to return to the dugout soon.
After breaking up with Leicester City following his relegation from the Premier League, Van Nistelroy is considered a candidate for management vacant at Eredivisy’s FC Twente.
Van Nistellouis left Leicester with mutual consent in late June 2025, exuding 13 points of safety after overseeing the disappointing campaign in which the club finished the bottom of the Premier League.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy was able to return to management soon
During his tenure, his team was only guaranteed to win five leagues. Before Leicester, his coaching resume includes being manager of PSV Eindhoven (who won the Netherlands Cup and performed strong shows in national competitions), supporting at Mann United, and even serving as interim manager at United for a short period of time.
Now, with FC Twente rejecting Joseph Oosting, Van Nistelrooy has emerged as one of the considered options for leading the Dutch side.
Twente’s work could represent both homecoming and the opportunity for Van Nistellouis to rebuild the business’s reputation after Leicester’s setback.
However, there is no official confirmation that he was offered the position or accepted the argument.
Man United icon is still top-level and inexperienced
Van Nistellouis brings to his recognition of his name as a player, his pedigree, and success in Dutch football, but his recent spell at Leicester has raised doubts.
Or bringing him in will signal his intentions, hoping he will stabilize the club and deliver consistent results.
Like many coaching vacancy, the Devil is about details, club support, transfer budget, and how well Van Nistellouis translates his profile into a winning performance.
