According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are trying to bolster midfield options this summer, in order to do so, monitoring the situations of Juventus’ Kenan Ildis and RB Leipzig’s Zabi Simons.
Yildiz would clearly be a preferred option, but the 19-year-old Turkey International is a fan favorite on Juventus and is extremely happy in Turin, and at this point he doesn’t want things to change the club again this year. It remains to be seen whether United can do anything to persuade him to change his mind.
Meanwhile, Simons has been tilted for a while to move through top clubs. United could be forced to switch from Yildiz to the 21-year-old Dutch International, but on that front they are reportedly facing strong competition as they are arch rivals whom Liverpool believes are equally interested. Manchester City and Barcelona are also mentioned.
