Manchester United have not acted like a team that stepped up their way to a 15th place Premier League finish last season.
The defeat against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League proved the last nail of the co, severing the final hope of saving something from a rotten year, closing the doors of the continental campaign in 2025/26.
However, Reuben Amorim has a plan, with Ineos introducing the club’s inflict transfer pull and signing Matthew Scoonha of Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth £62.5 million.
Amorim is cutting his work, it’s okay, but this new policy of identifying products that the Premier League has demonstrated may just pay dividends in the long run.
Let’s take a look at how they sealed the signature of the Brazilian star.
Why did Matheus Cunha join Man Utd?
It’s amazing to see top players still drawn to the theatre of their dreams, even when Man United is in the deepest suffering of their decline.
Certainly United have activated his release clause, but the 26-year-old was coveted by Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Aston Villa was also expressing interest.
If Amorim could bring Red Devils back to their strength position, imagine the success that outfits could have in the transfer market with strategies far from the Spattergun approach of the past decade.
Signing players who consistently showcased quality in the Premier League seems like a track United are heading downwards. This summer, Cunha is not the only one doing business from another part of the country towards Old Trafford.
Man UTD’s next transfer is expected “soon”
Italian reports show that Manchester United already agrees to personal terms with Brian Mbeumo, but negotiations with Brentford on the structure of the financial package continue.
That said, United are willing to pay add-ons plus £63 million and sign the goalscoring winger. The final details of Brentford still need to be defined, but the agreement is reported to be “predicted soon.”
Thomas Frank’s appointment by Tottenham Hotspur updated the Spurs’ hopes that they could hijack the deal, but the player’s preference is to sign the Red Devils despite the lack of European football.
How Bryan Mbeumo improves Man Utd
Last season, Mbeumo scored 20 goals in 38 Premier League matches. Mohamed Sarah, Alexander Isaac and Erling Haaland overtook him.
A tenacious advance with a fixed mentality, he is exactly what Amorim needs to turn the ship around. In fact, Cameroon International is welcomed by journalist Henry Winter for his “technique and work ethic.”
This is further expressed through his underlying data. Not only the scorer, the 25-year-old was ranked in the top 9% of the Premier League position peers in the previous quarter, top 10% of clearances and top 20% of the defensive third per 90 according to FBREF.
In particular, the latter indicator emphasizes the willingness to help Mbeumo fall deeper and move bees.
This vibrant range of quality actually lifted Cunha as one of his most comparable players, a data-driven site.
Cunha is a heretic, stylish with the ball, and is happy to step up and let things go when no one else is happy. Man United need some of them.
Looking at each of the forward’s top flight campaigns, we begin to see exactly why United are so desperate to secure these deals.

As you can see from the table above, they are not all that are not very similar. In fact, it appears to be a great way to dynam the forefront of Amorim, as he has been proven to be a high-level scorer with creative talent and defensive applications in the Premier League, each supporting the left and right sides.
The centre forward, chosen to settle in the middle of an exciting star, will certainly be a lucky man. The Red Devils have faced countless disappointments after first finding such excitement in a big-money acquisition, but INEO focuses on two players who can bring the club’s offensive quality to the highest level.
They add and create goals and improve the comprehensive flow of fallen giants. Mbuemo and Cunha are two Premier League forwards with similarly dynamic skill sets, unlikely to be two Premier League forwards created to suit Amorim’s vision location.
Many supporters will reserve the verdict, obviously, until the 2025/26 campaign goes well and truly up and running, but Mbuemo is, as Frank pointed out, “unplayable” superstar on his day, after winning a hat-trick with Newcastle.
Amorim’s team is ready for a much-needed revival as Cunha like-minded players reflect him on the other side.
