Brian Mbemo has been Manchester United’s number one target in the transfer window for the past few weeks as Reuben Amorim wants to improve his front line at Old Trafford.
Matheus Cunha has already completed a £62.5 million move through this window, but it is clear that the hierarchy is willing to support a 40-year-old child in his quest for success.
The Red Devils have previously rejected two offers to the Brentford star, with the latest offering totaling £62.5 million, including add-ons, but that’s still not enough to secure his signature.
He wants to move to the theatre of Dreams during the offseason, but his current employer has a £700 million price tag on his shoulder, which could slow down such a move.
Given the 20-goal tally in the Premier League this season, that would be a great addition, but that doesn’t mean that the other deals are just as impressive as this summer.
The latest on United Hunt for new additions from United this summer
All areas of the pitch are subject to recent investments, and Borussia Dortmund Star’s Felix Son Mecha is a player who appears to approach this window.
Atalanta Star Ederson is another player who has been on the radar for recent seasons, but given the ratings differences, there seems unlikely to be a deal.
However, according to TeamTalk updates earlier this week, PSG midfielder Warren Zaire Emery is being investigated, and PSG midfielder Warren Zaire Emery is in action elsewhere.
The report alleged that United have made its interest to the 19-year-old star, who has already earned 125 career appearances despite his tender age.
He also said it is unlikely that the French side will be upset at the current £85 million asking price.
Why United’s £85 million target will become the next Pogba
Paul Pogba still holds United’s club record at the highest fee paid to players, which cost £89 million from Juventus in the summer of 2016 and cost the then English record Unibus.
The Frenchman made over 200 appearances during his second spell at Old Trafford, and after leaving first, he returned to the club and joined the old lady for a free transfer.
The midfielder caught the eye in his box-to-box role for the Red Devils, often creating magical moments with the ball, helping the club win the Europa League in 2016/17.
He continued his free transfer again in the summer of 2022, and made a comeback to Juve before being hit by a ban on doping.
However, United could be about to land the next version of the Frenchman this summer, with Zaire Emery’s move and could join a big-money deal in unison with his fellow countrymen.
He had previously been compared to Pogba by former Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger. Supporters had to be excited by the potential move to Old Trafford this summer.
“He has a bit of Paul Pogba’s power, but he has some common qualities with N’Golo Kanté in his aptitude to get the ball back.
“Zaire Emery is a mix of two world champions in 2018, the ability to commit a foul and advance and win a duel without showing a great vision of the play.”
His fundamental statistics for the 2024/25 campaign show the talent he has, and given his soft age, he has a bag of time to emulate Pogba’s success.
Zaire Emery, labelled “one of the world’s best midfielders” by agent Jorge Mendes, completed 93% of the passes he attempted, registering 5.4 passes per 90 in the final third.

His ball talent is further reflected in the success of his efforts, completing 54% of his efforts and showing his skills beyond his teenage years. This is rare in modern games.
He was also equally impressive without the ball, earning 51% of tackles and 1.1 intercepts per 90, and several years ago Pogba passed the perfect box-to-box option.
£85 million may be a mammoth fee for such a young talent, but he has already shown that he can play at the highest level – but that is a frightening prospect that he will only develop further.
If he can replicate the levels produced by his fellow-brothers in the Theatre of Dreams, it would be a great signature that proves to be a better signature than Mbeumo, given the level he has achieved and the height he can reach in the next few years, and it would be a great signature.
