The final months of the season are essential for Manchester United. Reuben Amorim’s side is chasing the Champions League spots, not from his Premier League finish. The only hope of returning to the Red Devils’ European Elite Club competition is to win the Europa League.
They will definitely aim to finish the campaign high with a win over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. They will then leave their home next Thursday and face Lyon in the quarterfinals of the Europa League. They are only two relationships from the final.
Getting Champions League football is important for United to attract the best players in the world. In fact, they certainly link to people who fit that category.

One of the most interesting transfer sagas in the 2025 window is the club fighting to sign Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward is currently being loaned out at Galatasaray from Italian giant Napoli, but appears to be leaving the club in the summer.
Transfer focus
Mega Money deals, controversial moves, famous flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinions across Football FanCust.
According to a report by journalist Buthiraba, United “clearly made it clear” to the 26-year-old that he was “their first choice” this summer when it came to signing a new centre forward. Laba reports that an unknown Spanish club has also notified Osimhen of the same.
As for Osimhen prices, United may be seeing a rather expensive deal. The Lone Galatasaray star reportedly has a £62.1 million release clause.
When United signed Joshua Zilky last summer, they agreed to pay a little more than his Bologna release clause, but they will pay it back in installments, so there is probably a range to build Osinhen’s deal in a similar way.
Why is Osimhen a good signature?
Don’t get it wrong about that, Osimhen will immediately upgrade the Red Devils side. Football statistician Dave described him as “the best ninth place in the market” after scoring his 14th goal in 10 club and country games over the weekend.
His form for the Turkish giant was the term extraordinary. In 32 games throughout the campaign, he found chipping on the back of the net with 28 and five assists.
Two of these goals were in the Europa League to move away from home against United’s Premier League rival Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old has shown consistent goalscoring form over the past few seasons. Napoli’s record is excellent, scoring 76 goals in 133 games for the Italian giants. In each of his four seasons with the club, he scored at least 10 Serie A goals in 32 games in 2022/23, including 26 games.
The underlying figures in Osimhen’s FBREF are nothing but elite. For example, he averaged 0.78 goals for each game, ranked in the top 10% of European strikers, and averaged 3.44 shot-making actions per 90 minutes, making him the top 8%.

Imagine how fatally he plays with Bruno Fernandez. The United captain was a sensational this season, earning an extraordinary 16 goals and 16 assists in 45 games. He was an important source of creativity for the Red Devils.
In fact, like Osimhen, his underlying numbers in FBREF are the best in the world, indicating how elite he is. The two outstanding numbers are 3.05 key passes and 9.49 progressive passes per game, ranking in the top 1% and 2% of European midfielders.
It seems like a match played in heaven. Elite scorers like Osimhen, combined with one of Europe’s best creators at Fernandez, will certainly be a dream pairing for the Red Devils.
The contract to sign Osimhen can be expensive, but they can’t afford to pass the opportunity to sign one of Europe’s most deadly finishers, especially when a star like Fernandez plays behind him. In that sense, it seems United must get over the line.
