Overall, Rajasthan Royals had a terrible campaign, finishing in ninth place, with Parag averaging 32.75 and 393 runs and a strike rate of 166.52.
After the IPL he returned to action with the ongoing Duleep trophy, and he led the East Zone towards the North Zone as Abhimanyu Easwaran was missing due to fever.
Last year, Parag had shoulder surgery after playing T20I cricket in India in October 2024. He made a comeback with the Ranji Trophy in January and played IPL 2025.
After the final day of the Durep Trophy game with North Zone, Liyanparag said he had revealed about the IPL 2025 campaign, wanting to enjoy in the match.
“That was good. I mean, it was my main goal when I came here to play the game. Performance wasn’t too focused. I just wanted to have fun,” he said.
“I haven’t played competitive cricket for a long time. I haven’t actually played since the IPL. (inside) IPL was also managing a lot of stress and stuff like that. But that was good.
They played better cricket, I could praise it – Liyan Parag
The game between the East and North Zone ended in a draw, with the latter taking part in the semi-finals based on their first inning lead.
Riyangparag, who scored 39 runs and registered a 1/78th figure, praised Northzone’s performance and said his team was able to do a better job. He explained in detail:
“They played better cricket, and I could praise it. I think they should have done better in the first innings while bowling, but they tried to get closer to at least 350 and limit it.
“But after we didn’t do that, they had a lead of about 200 runs. The batters then hit really well and just took the game out of us, and I think the final day is the format for them to get their milestones.”

Riyan Parag Eyes Australia Tour Comeback
Parag further says he is focusing on the T20I comeback for his upcoming Australian tour, and if he gets snabbed he will return to the domestic cricket grind. He said:
“I was in the T20 setup and I took a break for my shoulder (injured), and that kind of thing happened. The lunge (trophy) comes, and the Australian tour comes. Once I chose that, I went back to the country and have been going for the past two or three years.
