Manchester United are aiming to add a “fantastic player” to their team in a transfer agreement with Brentford right winger Brian Mbeumo.
That’s the view of Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank. He managed Mbeumo at former club Brentford and made the most of Cameroon International.
Frank answered questions about the player’s seemingly pressing move to Old Trafford, so there was nothing good to say about Mbeumo.
United and Brentford finally reached an agreement yesterday over the charges for Mbeumo, as reported by Athletic.
Frank said: “Of course, Brian is a great player. I was with him for five years. He deserved movement wherever he goes. And as a player, when you’ve been with the player for so long, I want him the best.”
Tottenham also wanted to sign Brian Mbeumo this summer.
Frank’s connection seems to mean that the Spurs were also enthusiastic about signing Mbeumo this summer.
According to a report from Miller, Tottenham also appeared in Mbemo’s races, but that never worked. David Ornstein posted yesterday that the 25-year-old wanted to move to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo may have been a great addition to Frank’s team, but now it looks like he’s approaching a big move to United.
Mbeumo joins Man United’s Cunha
So far, it hasn’t been United’s easiest relocation window. It took me a while for MbeumoSaga to drag and it to finally resolve.
Matheus Cunha is the only signing at the club so far, and it is clear that more Ruben Amorim is needed.
Still, Frank’s high ratings for Mbeumo show that the Red Devils added offensive talent at the top by looking like a major upgrade to flops and misfits like Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony.
