Manchester United are reportedly considering an ambitious move to sign an elite young player from their main rivals in the Premier League.
The Red Devils currently need to strengthen their midfield, and Andrei Santos from Big Six rivals Chelsea appears to be on that list.
This is as reported by Football Insider, but it is thought that Chelsea are unlikely to sell a promising player like Santos to the likes of Man United.
The Brazilian is highly rated after an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg and one imagines Chelsea will be looking to make more use of him soon.
Still, it is true that he faces plenty of competition at Stamford Bridge, and the 21-year-old is probably unlikely to overtake Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo any time soon.
Will Andrei Santos leave Chelsea for Manchester United?
Given Santos’ situation, it probably makes sense for United to keep him in mind as a potential option in the middle of the park.
Even if the Blues don’t want to sell him to a rival, they may have to consider Santos’ situation, as he won’t be content to sit on the bench for too long.
Santos has proven he is good enough to play regularly at the highest level and is sure to make a huge impact at Old Trafford.

United could bring in a long-term replacement for the aging Casemiro in the near future, but Manuel Ugarte could also fill in as he hasn’t really shown up to his full potential.
While it is clear that Santos will play an important role in Ruben Amorim’s side, the same cannot be said for his situation at Chelsea.
