Manchester United are currently in the race to sign a ‘deadly finisher’ who has been dubbed ‘England’s Ousmane Dembele’.
Manchester United keen to sign new forward despite Brighton’s strong performance
Man United invested heavily in their forward line during the summer transfer window and are starting to see results, picking up all three points thanks to a brilliant attacking performance in their last game against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ruben Amorim’s side won 4-2 against the Seagulls, with their new front three in excellent form, with Matheus Cunha scoring his first goal since joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Benjamin Sesco notching an assist.
But Brian Mbeumo was undoubtedly the star man, scoring two goals and creating one big chance in a very encouraging performance, shortly after being described by Wayne Rooney as United’s ‘best player’ so far this season.
The Red Devils will have to err on the side of caution, but recent results mean they have moved up to sixth in the Premier League table and have every reason to be optimistic heading into November.
Despite their attacking prowess, Man United have joined the race for a new winger, with The Boot Room reporting that Man United are interested in Leicester City’s Jeremy Monga.
The forward, who has emerged as a regular in Leicester’s first team, has started to attract interest from a number of top Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, but Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign him.
Transfer expert Graham Bailey provided further details on the situation, saying: “Interest remains high and it is believed he will be ready to transfer by January.
“Leicester hope that by giving him regular first-team opportunities, they can persuade him to stay until the summer when he can sign a professional contract. At that point, the club could sell him or at least secure a transfer fee, rather than risk losing him for minimal compensation.”
‘Despicable finisher’ Monga could become ‘England’s Ousmane Dembele’
There are few compliments better than being compared to a Ballon d’Or winner, and Ben Mattinson praised the Leicester youngster’s finish, likening him to the most recent winner of the prestigious award.
At just 16 years old, the teenager has already made 19 first-team appearances for Leicester, scoring his first first-team goal, which shows his potential and it’s no wonder Man United are in the race.
Cunha, Sesco and Mbeumo currently look like an exciting attacking trio, but it’s always worth planning for the future and if Monga continues to receive first-team football at the Foxes, it may not be long before he’s able to earn a starting spot at a top club.
