Manchester United are ready to battle Barcelona for the symbol of Levante’s attacking sensation Karl Etta Eyon.
The Cameroonian has made a sensational start to the new season and his performances have put him on the wishlist of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Manchester United and Barcelona are two of the biggest clubs interested in the 21-year-old striker. The Premier League giants are ready to challenge the Spanish club for the signing of Etta Eyon, according to a report in Fichajes newspaper.
Etta Eyon’s sensational summer
The Cameroonian striker was promoted to Villarreal’s first team in the summer and has made a sensational start to the season. Levante then signed a contract with Yellow Submarine, and they continue to operate in a similar manner after the transfer.
In eight league appearances, the 21-year-old has scored five goals and provided three assists. His performances have attracted attention as top clubs are ready to compete for his signature. However, they won’t be able to secure his services until next summer, as he has already worn two shirts this season (Villarreal and Levante).
European giants sign Etta Eyon
But that won’t stop Manchester United or Barcelona from making a move. The Red Devils initiated contact in hopes of gaining an edge on the competition. They view him as a great option to strengthen their offense both in the short and long term.
Ruben Amorim’s side are ready to take on Barcelona, who have long been interested in the 21-year-old. They wanted to sign him during the summer, but the salary cap prevented them from securing his services.
The player dreams of playing for coach Hansi Flick’s team and is expected to return to seek his contract next summer. The Catalan giants have maintained a good relationship with the player’s camp following summer negotiations, which could certainly boost their chances of signing the player.
He is protected by a €30m release clause, but the 21-year-old could be snapped up for just €15m in an unusual agreement with Villarreal, who still retain part of his transfer rights.
