Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee is fast becoming one of the most sought-after players heading into the January transfer window, with several clubs in the Premier League and Europe preparing to sign the Dutch forward.
According to TEAMtalk, West Ham United are one of five English clubs monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation, with Sevilla and PSV Eindhoven also showing strong interest in signing him.
Zirkzee joined Man United last year with high expectations and has shown glimpses of his immense potential, but has struggled to establish himself in Ruben Amorim’s starting XI.
Joshua Zirkzee wants to leave Manchester United
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup looming, the striker is now reportedly aiming for regular first-team football to improve his chances of earning a place in Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands squad.
Sources close to the player say Zirksee remains fully committed to United as a professional but is becoming increasingly concerned about his lack of playing time.
However, United are reluctant to part ways with Zirksee midway through the season. The club’s leadership reportedly wants to keep the current squad intact throughout the second half of the campaign, especially as coach Amorim wants to manage injuries and maintain attacking depth.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils are aware that interest could increase if Zirksee’s situation does not improve by early January.
West Ham United are thought to be prioritizing the acquisition of a new striker to ease the burden on Jarrod Bowen, and Zirksee’s combination of strength, creativity and technical ability makes him a prime target.
Competition to sign Dutch attacker is fierce
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently noted that “clubs across Europe are monitoring Zirksee’s situation,” adding: “His profile fits in many systems, he is versatile, young and motivated heading into the World Cup cycle.”
Man United could have to make an important decision in the coming months, with interest growing on a number of fronts and Zirkzee’s clear desire to play regular football.
It remains to be seen whether they will choose to hold on or cash out. The Dutchman has made just four appearances in the Premier League this season as manager Amorim favors Benjamin Sesco over the former Serie A striker.
