Manchester United complained of a major headache over the sale of Brazilian winger Antony as the real Betis cannot afford the deal.
The Spanish club lends Antony late last season and he worked well in his stint in La Liga.
According to BBC Sport, the 25-year-old supported the prospect of returning to Betis on a permanent move, but now appears to have collapsed.
The BBC report cites an official Betis statement, clearly stating that the club cannot afford Antony’s relocation fees or player wages.
“Betis has abolished the offer. Betis cannot afford the transfer fee or the amount that players are supposed to receive,” their statement read.
What’s next for Antony, who appears to be dead, when the real Betis transfer appears to be dead?
It remains to be seen whether there is a way to revive this deal, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be that promising, and it will be a source of great frustration for Man United.
Antony was a major flop during his time at Old Trafford, and he was able to sell several more as Reuben Amorim continues to revamp the team.
The Red Devils have spent so much money on many failed signatures in recent years, so offloading flops like Antony will at least do well to get back some of that money.
Who else can sign Anthony?
Antony wanted to join Betis again, but imagines that there will be other reasonable offers that will come before the transfer deadline on Monday.
Catch off side Previously, they were informed of the interests of Atletico Madrid, Benfica, Brighton and RB Leipzig, but these never approached as advanced as Betis.
However, there could be another chance that these clubs will be involved, so they could be a name they should be aware of in the next 24 hours or so.
