Marco Bezzecchi was only “sufficient to make a fifth” at the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix, so despite “dreaming” for the podium in his home race, he was pleased with the results.
For Bezzecchi, Italy’s MotoGP was one of the most solid weekends of the season, with top 10 results being backed up by two top 6 finishes of Rider, whose season is potentially unrealized narrative thanks to frequent mistakes.
“It was good,” Marco Betzecchi told Motogp.com in his review of his Italian Grand Prix.
“I really did my best this whole weekend. I tried to work with the team in the best possible way. I was able to show good performance, good speed.”
However, for Betzekki, who wanted a podium finish in his home race, he was disappointed that even if he realistically had enough of his pace, the top five would have been enough.
“Of course I wanted more, but it’s clear I was dreaming of the podium in my hometown soil, but I have to say that in the end, my pace wasn’t enough,” said the Aprilia racing rider.
“I think I had a pace to make a fifth, and fortunately, I reached my target.
“When Diggia (Fabio di Giannantonio) came in fifth place with 0.9 seconds or 1 second (first), that was tough.
“But I realized I was destroying the front tire and still lacking 10 or 9 laps (from the finish), which was tough.
“There’s something more to DiGear and he managed to catch the front group. I did my best so I can’t complain.”
