Apart from championship leader Mark Marquez, Motogue’s Inform Rider is undoubtedly Aprilia’s Marco Betzecchi, who was able to analyze the riding style and approach of the factory Ducati riders for many of the Czech Motogup last weekend.
The Brno race marked Mark Marquez’s fifth Grand Prix victory in a row. The Ducati Renovo team riders, including the Sprint, are undefeated in 10 races.
Meanwhile, Betzecchi took the fourth podium from the last six races, including a sprint, and in the final race before the summer break, the Italians undoubtedly emerged as Ducati’s strongest challenger.
Betzecki led the opening of the seven-lap opening of Motog Place in the Czech Republic last weekend before Marquez was handed over on lap 8 on turn 3. The Italians were unable to accommodate Marquez on the remaining 14 laps of the BRNO circuit, but the time spent behind the Spaniards allowed him to make some observations about the riding style of the championship leader.
“Let’s say he’s a little stronger, especially in the towing area, especially compared to me,” Marco Betzecki said after the Motogp.com flag show.
“I was able to ride the braking harder. I got stronger than him, but when he was open the throttle, he had a lot of corner speed, a lot of momentum and he was really smooth.
“Maybe with strong brakes, I wasn’t really smooth, and it’s important on this track because it flows so quickly.
“So I’ve not seen him closely for a lot of time, but I saw him ride very smoothly. This was the biggest difference compared to me.”
At a post-race press conference, Betzecchi added that Marquez’s pace at Brno was clear from Friday.
“It’s true, Mark was strong everywhere,” said Aprilia Racing Rider.
“I’ve been able to see this since yesterday, but on Friday too. He’s strong in all situations.”
