Marco Betzecchi’s strong pace at the MotoGP Germany Grand Prix was praised by factories Ducati duomark Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia.
Aprilia rider Marco Betzecki faces a sharp learning curve in 2025, and has entered the development lead of the RS-GP in his first year on the bike due to the long-term absence of world champion teammate Jorge Martin.
Marco Betzekki’s pace, adapting well to Aprilia early in the season, took a big step.
He won the British Grand Prix at the end of May and then took the double podium at the Dutch Grand Prix three rounds later.
Betzecki was on the course to add to the podium haul at the German Grand Prix. Many of them sat in third place before Fabio di Giannantonio inherited to second place with a 30-lap 18 crash before him.
But Betzecchi also fell a few laps later and retreated a bit to avoid a similar fate as Di Giannantonio.
In a behind-the-scenes video released by MotoGP after the German Grand Prix, race winner Mark Marquez and his third-placed teammate Pecco Bagnaia praise Betzecchi’s performance.
“Bez was the only rider, not a strong Ducati,” Bagnaia said before Marquez replied.
Bagnaia continues this by saying, “Since the test at Jerez.” Marquez responds:
“A step in Geres, Aragon Anagon,” Bagnaia said.
It’s an important step that Betzekki took in his recent round, as the Aragon Test was his format with time attack trim.
Earlier in the season, Betzekki struggled to find the RS-GP stability when pushing lap times with fresh soft rear rubber.
Before the Aragon Test, his best grid slot was seventh in the British Grand Prix, winning the race from there.
However, after the Aragon Test he was fifth in the Dutch Grand Prix and third in the wet in the German Grand Prix.
Heading towards the Czech Grand Prix this weekend, Betzecchi is the leading non-Ducati in the championship, finishing sixth with 130 points.
The next best Aprilia is Truckhouse Rookie Iogra, ranked 14th with 49 points.
