Ducati general manager Gigi d’Or Inina says he “very well understands” why the brand “had such a long time” to win the MotoGP title after Mark Marquez’s 2025 victory.
The factory Ducati rider celebrated his seventh MotoGP world title on Sunday after finishing second in the Japanese Grand Prix.
His first title was his first in six years, and he won his first title at Ducati, five years after a serious arm injury that stalled his career.
Mark Marquez left Honda in early 2023 and joined Grescini with the Ducati machinery to rebuild his confidence before acquiring the factory team sheet for the season.
Like the title, Marquez has won 11 Grand Prix and 14 sprints so far, but has won the Ducati Constructors Championship almost alone.

Previously, with Andrea Doviziono as the frontrunner, and formerly a Ducati tragedy, Dore Iniya says he now understands why.
“I can’t imagine a day like this,” he told the official MotoGP website on Sunday.
“Pecco (Bagnaia), who was first and second in the World Championships, did an excellent job in races over the weekend.
“So it’s a perfect day and I’m really, really happy.
“When I signed Mark, I am sure this was the best thing for Ducati, but I couldn’t imagine that.
“He dominated the season and did an incredible job.
“To be honest, it’s very easy to work with him. When he comments on bike issues, it’s very clear.
“He is certainly fast on the track, which is the most important thing, and it is easy.
“Even when it’s difficult, he’s calm and tries to solve the problem, so working with him is really great.
“I can’t believe it this year and beyond when Mark is on the track, so I really understand why it took us so long to win our first championship.
“It’s really hard to fight him. He wants to win. It’s easy. He wants to win.”
Few people have done what Mark Marquez has.
Dall’igna went on to add that a small number of athletes in world sports were able to do what Marquez did when he returned to the top after suffering such serious injuries.
“He managed a great path to recover from his problems,” he said.
“It wasn’t easy. He made some difficult decisions during this road, but in the end he reached the summit again.
“So it’s amazing. I’m sure a very small number of athletes around the world have done something like that trying to recover from his injuries.”
