Mark Williams was plaguing the 2024-25 NBA season with the Charlotte Hornets.
The Charlotte Hornets are well known for trading Mark Williams for the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for packages around Dalton Knecht.
However, the Lakers cancelled the trade and sent Williams back to the Hornets. Since then, Williams has taken multiple shots in purple and gold.
Now ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season, the Hornets remained asserted about how to say goodbye to Williams. After all, the organization traded Williams for the Phoenix Suns.
The Hornets appeared to be in a hurry to trade Williams, probably because of their injured career with the team.
The Hornets managed to break up with Williams, but the 23-year-old appears to be furious with his previous team.
Williams recently reflected on moving to the Suns on team’s Media Day.
“It’s always great to be where you wanted it, so being here is exciting. When I first replaced me, it was only a matter of time before I left.
“I’m going to make them regret that decision every time I step onto the floor,” Williams said in X according to Shane Young.
During his three years with the Hornets, Williams averaged 12.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. If he can average similar numbers for the Suns while still staying healthy, the Hornets will definitely regret trading him.
To be honest, Williams needs to let go of his past with the Hornets and really carve out a better career with the Sun.
Speaking of which, Williams recently teased what the Suns fanbase should expect from him in his debut year with the team.
“I mean, it’s good. I’m not here. If I don’t believe in myself, I don’t think I’ve ever reached my career. Yeah, I’m going to have a really good season this year.”
He added: “Every year I feel like I’m better than the previous year, so I want to continue that trend. I just want to play regular season games more than the past.”
Williams is oozing out with excitement ahead of his debut season with the Suns. It will be interesting to see if head coach Jordan Ott can make the most of him with hardwoods.
