F1 commentator Martin Blandle revealed details of his conversation with Christian Horner about his future plans following his Red Bull exit.
Horner officially left his Milton Keynes-based outfit last month, finishing his 2020 stint and overseeing a major success with the Formula One team.
Under Horner’s leadership, Red Bull won eight drivers’ championships. The four were Sebastian Vettel and the four were Max Burstappen.
However, Horner was expelled as the boss of the team in July due to ownership of Red Bull.
Coincidentally, following the exit of Horner, Max Verstappen confirmed that he will remain with the team in 2026 amid interest from Mercedes.
Horner’s next move remains unknown.
Haas boss Ayao Komatsu revealed in Singapore on Thursday that Horner had a “exploratory” talk with American costumes.
Aston Martin is also linked to Horner, but Andy Cowell has kept the team away from speculation. At a FIA press conference in Singapore on Friday, Cowell said:
“At this point it appears that Christians are ringing almost every team owner. It can be clearly stated that there are no plans for Christian involvement in future management or investment roles.”
Alpine could be another possibility for Horner given his close relationship with Flavio Briartoll.
Renault claims it is committed to F1 despite its poor shape and outcomes on the track.
Brundle details Horner Chat
Brandle maintains close ties with the former Red Bull boss.
The legendary F1 commentator revealed that at the Italian Grand Prix, Horner texted him to mid-race about Red Bull’s impressive turnaround.

Christian Horner
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Brundle reiterated the general view that Horner wanted to have the power of Toto Wolff on the Formula One team.
“I think the current teams in Formula 1, like other stakeholders, will push hard to say they don’t want Formula 1’s 12th team at this point while joking about sorting out the regulations for 2026,” Brandle said.
“It could be an extra hurdle for Christians. Formula 1 is his life. That’s what his skills and experiences are lying. When he said he’ll only come back if he has skin in the game, he made absolutely clear that he’ll be back to him.
“He couldn’t acquire any shares on top of that. TotoWolff is a good example of how to do that as a shareholder of a Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 team.
“We want to call them, so we’re sure we have partners that there are sponsors we might call them, and other people who might want to join Christians on that journey.”
