“Marty is outside his heart”: Fans respond to Kamal Usman seeking title shot after UFC Atlanta victory

UFC fans are happy to see Kamal Usman return to the Octagon after a long layoff, but don’t think his victory over Joaquin Buckley should bring him back to the title fight.

Usman returned for the first time in nearly two years and scored a biased decision against Buckley in the main event at UFC Atlanta last Saturday. The victory snapped three skids and was USMAN’s first UFC victory since making a decision against Colby Covington at UFC 268 in November 2021.

Throughout the week of the fight, Usman was convinced that the victory would not only bring him back to the title conversation, but also win the title fight against the winners of the future match between new champions Jacques Della Madalena and Islamic Makhachev. A lot has happened since Usman healed, with many new candidates and competitors rising to divisional ranks such as Sean Brady, Shavkat Rakhmonov, and Ian Machado Garry. Moreover, most fans believed that a grim match against Belal Muhammad was a battle to make, and that he would win, lose, or draw with Buckley.

Usman No Sold Muhammad sells Muhammad during the media day, then doubles after his victory and is working hard to see that the title fight should be next. The emotion seemed to remain fans scratched their heads, as seen by the MMA fighting community.
