How has he played so far?
McIlroy’s score by round:
Round 1: 72(e)
It was a familiar feeling. McIlroy looked comfortable for most of his round. Nos. 4, 8, 9, and 13 birdies placed him among the leaders as they walked the 15th fairway. But that didn’t last.
McIlroy played a second shot behind the green at 15, then watched him speed too much on the chip and go down the water through the hole. He went to make a double bogey, but that wasn’t his final round.

Trouble strikes around the 17th green as he misunderstood his tip again and did his job on himself. He went to three putts and carded another double bogey and finished evenly.

How did McIlroy get carried away this season?
McIlroy was nothing better than this before the master. He has already won two events – a playoff success with AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February and JJ Spaun at the Player Championship last month.
This is where he ended at each event this season:
Dubai Desert Classic: T4 (-12)
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: (-twenty one)
Genisis Open: T17 (-3)
Arnold Palmer Invitational: T15 (-3)
Athletic Championships: Champion (-13, via playoffs)
Houston Open: T5 (-15)
What is McIlroy’s record at the Masters?
It was a roller coaster to say the least. McIlroy has seen some of his best and worst moments come in Augusta, Georgia.
All we can forget about 2011 was just 21 years old, struggling with a heartbreaking back nine collapse, taking a four-shot lead towards the final round. He later said that the day was the most important thing in his career, winning his first major at the US Open later that summer.
He did some monster rounds, like in 2015, where he was 2 under on 36 holes before finishing fourth with 68 and 66 over the weekend. His best finish came in 2022 when the 8-under 64 in the final round catapulted him into second place in the solo.
Here’s how he finished with all 16 starts:
2009 -T20
2010 – Cut
2011 -T15
2012 -T40
2013 -T25
2014 -T8
2015 -4
2016 -T10
2017 -T7
2018 -T5
2019 -T21
2020 -T5
2021 – Cut
2022 -2
2023 – Cut
2024 T22
