The injury to Los Angeles ‘ three-base handed Max Muncie on Wednesday night was a truly terrifying scene.
Muncie (in a very athletic form) jumped up and won Will Smith Throw in an attempt to steal from Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor. When he came down to make a tag for Taylor, the runner first slipped his head over Muncie’s legs, moving it in an unnatural way.
Muncie quickly clenched his knees and crumpled to the ground, eventually being saved from the field.

The injury has somewhat dampened the Clayton Carshaw monumental achievements to win his 3,000th career strikeout. The update was ultimately made on Thursday as the team waited for news about Muncie’s status.
Muncie was placed in IL with what was being billed as bone bruises. Imaging showed that Muncie was expected to suffer no ligament damage and miss approximately 6 weeks with the injury.
This news is the best scenario for the team and the players. Many people at first glance saw Muncie suffering a very serious knee injury. Based on his response, he coupled with the general toughness he has demonstrated over the years. The fear was that he would be lost for the rest of the year, and perhaps beyond that.
As it stands, Muncie can come back in his way and be with Ballclub in September, possibly due to the postseason ramp-up period.
The timing of this injury in a way is very coincidence, but it’s a shame for Muncie too. After a very late start of the year, the third baseman is pushing for an All-Star selection. He boasts a stellar .832 OPS in 2018 to go with 13 Homer and 55 RBI.
It will be interesting to see how the round their positions together with most players. Both Kiké Hernandez and Miguel Rojas can provide cover on the spot. Neither of them are left-handed bats, so Tommy Edman will be third. This allows Hyeseong Kim to get consistent time on 2 bases.
