Three-base hand Max Muncie spoke about the loss of clubhouse leaders and the reality that baseball is business.

“When I see some of the pillars of this clubhouse, I feel he’ll be one of them,” Muncie told Athletic. “It really can’t quantify that because he brought so many people out of the field to this team. It’s hard to actually write about how much he means to this team on this team, this clubhouse, this plane, the dugout, the hotel roads.

Muncie and Burns were teammates for eight seasons, starting in 2018 when a third baseman joined the . Burns made his major league debut with the in 2015, and was one of the few players to join the organization through the ups and downs.

The chose to call out the top of Dalton Rushing, who had been patiently waiting for a chance to shine in the big leagues. Rushing is a talented left-handed batsman and will Smith can rest more during the start.

Rush has reached .308 in Triple A this season and is expected to get a pretty good start for the in the coming weeks.

While some fans are eager to witness him rushing to the majors, the move in response to his appeal is certainly heartbreaking for many LA players.

“Whenever someone gets a DFA, it’s always tough,” Muncie said. “They’re here, and you’ll show up the next day and it seems they never existed. That’s why this is such a tough business.
