Max Muncie, the third baseman for the Los Angeles , boasts a new look this season after an astigmatism diagnosis promoted an All-Star and began wearing prescription glasses during the game.

Several fans believe that Muncie played a role in helping him turn the corner at the plate when the glasses hit their first home run in their new glasses.
It seems to be a familiar story to Kique Hernandez, who was also diagnosed with astigmatism in 2024, suddenly showed a major improvement after an average of .191 in the first half of the year.
Hernández finished the 2024 regular season, which was a hit on .274/.307/.458, with 0.766.
The glasses trend appears to have followed alongside Muncie as he hit .180 with no home runs, four RBIs and no glasses. In 29 games with glasses, Muncy averages .277, nine Homer, 31 RBI and an OPS of 1.015.
Nevertheless, Muncie doesn’t believe there is an exact correlation between his midseason turnaround and his glasses.
“Everyone wants to wear glasses on what I’ve been doing recently, but I’m not completely ready to buy it yet,” Muncie told Doug McCain of the Nation. “But it’s hard to deny that I’ve played better because I put on my glasses. For me, it was just one of the things I’ve always known over the past few years that I’ve dominated the left eye.
“It felt like it’s becoming more and more dominant over the past few years, because I was wearing sunglasses when it was a hit, so I couldn’t do that because I was in the batter’s box for the last two or three years, I was in the batter’s box.
“It took me a while to get used to it. Now I’ve adjusted it completely to it, so I don’t mind wearing them. It’s hard to deny the outcome.”
Some were beginning to lose faith in Muncie, but the brass got stuck with him and held his third base hand in the lineup. As the season progressed, their patience was rewarded as Muncie was heading in the right direction.
