Metta World Peace wins New York Knicks head coach talk on ESPN, doubling bills

Metta World Peace believes ESPN analysts are making mistakes in the conversation about how they could become the next head coach of the New York Knicks.

Despite the franchise still not making any progress, the Knicks hunt for Tom Thibodeaux is getting hot.

The Knicks have a choice of several coaching candidates. However, one name that continues to pop up in many circles is Jason Kid.

Kidd is currently the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Interestingly, the Mavericks have not closed any potential exits for the Kid.

However, the original All-Star Point Guard is not the only player whose former player competes for work…

Metta World Peace has also expressed interest in the work of the New York Knicks, but he is not satisfied with the lack of discussion about his chances.

ESPN’s first take featured the segment a few days ago. There, the panel discussed the best options most likely for the Knicks in the head coaching hunt.

The name of Metta World Peace was not mentioned. He took him to X and blasted the panel for trying to push the agenda to fans, and refused to acknowledge his merits as a potential coaching candidate.

“It’s not possible. I’m the perfect head coach,” he commented. “Except Molly, you all have the same quote. And you’re not familiar with New York. I’ve always taken NYC head-on.”

“You guys are force feeding your fan options. All of these coaches are already in place. This is the last option.”

“In the first take, I’m the right choice. Like (Carmelo Anthony), I’ve been headed for pressure since ’99. I’m very fighting tested and ready to ultimately give the city a title.”

impossible. I’m the perfect head coach. All of you except Molly have the same quote. And you’re not familiar with New York. I’ve always seen NYC. You are given to your fan options. All these coaches are already in the place. The first view on this is… https://t.co/bygcgrodnf

I understand Metta’s complaints, but he finds there aren’t many opportunities to coach and difficult to get into the world of coaching.

And the fact that matters is, the New York Knicks can’t test their luck as an inexperienced first-time head coach.

The reason the Knicks are particularly targeted at coaches like Jason Kidd and Michael Malone is because they are long-time head coaches with championship experience.

Malone led the Denver Nuggets as head coach of the 2023 NBA Championship. Jason Kidd was the key assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2020 NBA Championship run.

This doesn’t mean that inexperienced coaches aren’t getting the chance. Steve Nash is famous for being the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets led by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Recently, JJ Reddick has become head coach of LeBron James’s Lakers team. For now, however, the Knicks want their experienced coaches to stabilize the ship through turbulent water.
