Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is set to return to the team after selecting the $52.6 million player option.
The decision will allow LeBron James to return to the NBA with his 23rd record season and eighth overall with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James’ decision certainly surprises considering the LA Lakers are heading towards the buildings around Luka Doncic.
James’ agent Rich Paul confirmed that LeBron understands the Lakers’ vision, but at this point he is unable to commit to a long-term deal.
James was a dominant player throughout his NBA career, but he was undoubtedly at the peak of his career during a four-year stint with the Miami Heat.
James’ Heatstint suffered from a bitter ending, but even so, the franchise’s fanbase loves the prospects that the King might sign him if he is looking to move away from the Lakers.
“Hey LeBron, the East isn’t as strong as the West. Miami is a good place,” wrote fans. Another was added, but “Does LeBron want to win? Come to Miami, goat.”
“LeBron, go back east and close in that Miami #6,” the third fan added.
“I’ll do anything to get LeBron back to Miami,” the fourth fan announced.
“LeBron gives Miami more what KD needs than KD has,” fans created Kevin Durant Point.
Even at 40, James remains one of the league’s best players, and the heat will benefit from a future Hall of Fame.
After breaking up with Jimmy Butler, the Heat barely managed to reach the 2025 NBA playoffs. However, the franchise was sent home in the opening round.
Obviously, this was a disappointing run, with Heat President Pat Reilly talking about what the team can do in the offseason. Some of those suggestions were to sign players like James.
“LeBron and others, players who produce at high levels in their mid- to late 30s will help their teams win the championship. I’m not against it (addition),” Riley said.
Given that James is the final year of his contract with the Lakers, the fever can wait patiently until the summer of 2026 and try signing the 4X NBA MVP.
But the photos become clear when fans see how James is playing for the Lakers this season, and whether the front office can put together the roster and compete for the NBA championship.
