The Los Angeles have had depth issues surrounding their pitching roster all season, but are closer to retrieving important pieces in the bullpen.
With a month left until the postseason, Michael Kopeck’s imminent return should be a very promising sign for fans as the right-hander recently completed his rehabilitation assignment.

Kopech started the 2025 season late after suffering a shoulder collision during spring training. After making his debut in early June, he was caught on the list again injured with inflammation in his right knee, requiring surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
Kopech will rejoin the team and will move to Pittsburgh with the , according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register, and may be activated from the injured list on Tuesday ahead of the series with the Pirates.
When Kopech is healthy, he has been proven to be an elite hurler for the .
Since he arrived at trade deadline last year, he has pitched a 1.13 ERA in 24 appearances. In just seven innings this season, Kopech has yet to allow eight runs and four walks.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about the impact Kopech has on his team, aside from his job on the mound.
“I think it’s just a competition. It’s focused. It’s really true,” Roberts said. “When he gets here, the level of focus increases.”
Focus has been a hot topic given the ‘ neck rise in the past few weeks in Los Angeles, with the San Diego Padres rising and LA hasn’t played the best baseball game these days.
The have a slim lead for the rest of the National League West, but with a month until the postseason, each game is just as important as the next one. Specifically, for Kopech, removing the rust before October is paramount, returning to the 2024 form at the best time for another potential title run.
