The Pramac Yamaha team has announced that Miguel Oliveira continues to recover from a shoulder injury at the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix next weekend.
The winner of the five MotoGP race was involved in a clash with Gresini Rookie Fermin Aldegar during the Argentine Grand Prix sprint race last month.
While he escaped from the broken bone, Oliveira was forced to withdraw from the rest of the event due to injury to the ligament in his left shoulder.
This made him a bystander at Americas Grand Prix last weekend, with Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez replacing him.
Following this week’s shoulder health check, Pramac confirmed that Oliveira will miss out on the fourth round in Qatar next week.
Fernandez will once again represent him.
A full statement from the team said, “After undergoing further medical examinations to assess the progress of left shoulder recovery during the sprint race in Argentina, Prima Pramac Yamaha Motogupu regrets and Miguel Oliveira unfortunately also needs to miss out on the Qatar Grand Prix, which is scheduled for the weekend of April 13th.
“Like in the case at the US Grand Prix last weekend, he has been confirmed as his replacement, Yamaha factory race MotoGP test rider Augusto Fernandez, who finished 13th in Sunday’s race.”
Fernandez signed a winter contract to become Yamaha’s test rider after losing his position with the Tech3 KTM team in 2025.
As for his duties as an alternative to Oliveira, it is unclear what other races will be, as Fernandez will compete for Yamaha’s six wild cards at this stage.
Despite Oliveira’s injuries, Pramac got off to a solid start in his first season with Yamaha’s machinery. Jack Miller finished fifth on the American circuit last weekend.
