Rojas appeared to have maintained his injury by trying to steal second. The veteran will be getting an X-ray in his left hand, according to manager Dave Roberts.
Rojas said he shouldn’t need a stint on the injured list, but he has a choked left ring finger. The infielders reached the appearance of each plate in the Kansas City series finale.
This month, Rojas is hitting an impressive .348 (8-23). The veterans aren’t everyday starters, but Rojas made a big impact when he was in the lineup.
In the season, he cut .250/.289/.380 on three home runs, nine runs hit, and .669 OPS in 108 at-bats cut .669 OPS. The use Rojas and Kique Hernandez mostly for left-handed pitching this year.
“If we consider our roster, I think to some extent we’ll run right-handed batsmen – Kyuk (Hernandez) and Migie Ro (Miguel Rojas) – and give them the opportunity until they don’t,” Roberts said. “So now, against left-handed pitching, that’s an opportunity for them to get into the game. Yeah, he shows that he’s getting a good batting against left-handed.”
The have won six consecutive series, including the latest Royals. The defending champions produced a major separation in the National League West, leading the division in seven games.
The will return to Los Angeles for the next series, facing the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The San Diego Padres are currently one of the final NL wildcard spots, while the San Francisco giants are 1.5 games.
