The New York Knicks are gearing up for the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season.
The New York Knicks will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in what could be a prelude to a future playoff matchup.
The Knicks and Cavaliers are strong candidates to win the Eastern Conference due to their deep depth.
Both teams come into this season with a lot to prove and need to live up to their expectations.
As the Knicks get ready to take on the Cavaliers, Bridges talked about their opponent.
He talked about Donovan Mitchell, who has grown up with the Cavaliers over the years.
Still, Mitchell is aiming to overcome the odds and reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
Mikal Bridges, who spends time defending Mitchell, talked about the All-Star’s strengths.
“He does a great job not only for himself but for his teammates as well. That’s a huge growth in his game.”
“As he’s grown as a player, he’s been able to score and he’s been able to make.
“He’s really talented.”
“I don’t think there’s anybody who doesn’t want a challenge for Game 1. It’s a good test for some of the teams that want to be at the top of the East to see what the first game of the season will be like.”
Mitchell and the Cavaliers are coming off a 64-win season. However, while the Cavaliers had a great regular season, they had some shortcomings in the playoffs.
Three seasons ago, they lost to the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs, and two seasons ago, they lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round. Last season, they lost to the Indiana Pacers in the second round.
So the pressure is on for the Cavaliers to accomplish that this season and at least reach the Eastern Conference Finals.
If not, big changes could be coming for Cleveland.
